Marriott International scores its ESG performance

Family-controlled Marriott International, Inc, the largest lodging company in the world, says it has achieved its goal of spending $500 million with women-owned businesses one year ahead of schedule and spent nearly a billion dollars with diverse- and women-owned businesses.

The goal was among the highlights in its 2020 Serve 360 Report released this month on its diversity, volunteerism and other environmental, social and governance activities.

Missoni eyes international expansion

The Missoni family have sold a 41.2% stake in their eponymous fashion house to Italian private equity firm FSI, a move the family say will make them more competitive internationally.

The stake was valued at €70 million ($93 million), and the companies said in a statement it would involve a capital increase and no leverage against Italy’s Missoni. The family retains majority control.

Bollore Group raided over west Africa port concessions

French authorities have searched the headquarters of Bollore Group in Paris as part of an investigation into alleged port concessions it received in West Africa.

The investigation is looking into a possible relationship between Bollore Group, headed by seventh-gen Vincent Bollore, and Francis Perez, the president of casino and hotel group Pefaco.
